Caring for Your Tree
No need to worry about cutting a local, fresh tree too early. Fresh trees will last a long time compared to trees from a retail lot. So, any day we’re open, starting the weekend before Thanksgiving, is a great time to cut a tree. Whenever you cut, what keeps a tree fresh is getting it into water quickly and keeping it watered.
Get it into water as soon as possible. Most species can go 6 to 8 hours after cutting and still take up water. Make a fresh cut about 1/2 inch off the base before it goes in the stand. Use a stand that holds about 1 quart of water per inch of trunk diameter, and check the water level every day. More tree care tips.
