Rich & I spent an afternoon last week cutting up a huge sugar maple in his yard. It was quite an adventure! It started with some lessons in technique for chainsawing such large trees and then a struggle to get it into the truck. I’m taking these two 8′ logs to get sawn up into some good furniture grade wood. I’m hoping that the butt log is good enough to quarter saw and get some guitar tone wood sets out of, but due to how I plan to use the wood, they are big, long & heavy pieces. The tractor barely lifted the smaller log and we’re going to have to borrow a bigger tractor to get at the other one. It sure was a relief to get it into the truck, but now I’m not really sure how I get it off.
- Bringing the log up the hill
- In the truck, but what about off?
- Rich could’t believe we did it!
