I really hated to do this — put a fence up around the property — but it was time to do it.  I have had a surprising amount of trouble with people driving four wheelers, motorbikes and snow mobiles through the trees.  While I didn’t mind people driving on the farm, particularly on the roads, it really comes down to the amount of inconsiderate damage caused by people riding through the trees or directly over things that I have been cultivating. The last straw was the day that I discovered someone had driven directly over my seedling trees and through a field of oats.  Really, there is no way the driver didn’t know what they were doing!  I’ve absorbed the cost of too much damage already to allow this to continue, so sadly, I put up a fence and signs.  Foot traffic for walking, snowshoing, cross county skiing and horses is still acceptable.

I think a fence was long over due. Having seen the damage last season while I snowshoes, I am surprised you put up with it this long. Thank you for keeping it open to foot traffic, I look forward to snowshoeing again this year!

Oh no. Did our little trees we planted in May get damaged?

Those newly planted, little Christmas trees are ok. I few bigger ones have been taken out by careless drivers. I have to admit, I accidentally took a couple out with a lawn mower when I wasn’t paying attention to my driving!
