Yup, you read that right, Tim, Atlanta & Willow just bought the FARM, Third Stone Christmas Tree Farm, to be exact.
Sure, there’s lots to tell about the place & what we’re thinking, but we figured we’d start off with a cookout to invite any of our curious friends to come check it out.
So, here are the details:
Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 @ 5:00
At our new place in Barnstead
Third Stone Farm
106 Garland Rd
Barnstead, NH 03218
Please RSVP to let us know that you are coming! I will send you directions to make it easy to find us since gps tends to send people the long way.
Cookout details:
This is a BYOM(eat) operation, so bring food to share.
If you are interested in helping or coming before 5:00: keep in mind that just as we completed the purchase of the farm, it’s the busiest time of year for work on the place between minor upkeep, mowing the fields and pruning Christmas trees. Friends are welcome to join us for an overnight or to come earlier to help out with some of the tasks. Or, just come after 5 and join us for beer, food and a campfire.
Camping details:
What do you need to know — bring a tent! There is no running water (yet), so bring water to drink. There is some available for washing. There is an outhouse. There is no power. There are places to swim nearby. Hiking & biking abound. AND, there is a hot air balloon festival going on that weekend. You can go for a ride or watch them float over the farm.

Farm details:
We weren’t looking to buy a tree farm, but we came across the listing and were “curious”, so we checked it out. Of course, we fell in love with it immediately and then, whaddaya know, we bought it. We haven’t had a chance to take many photos yet since we spent so much time working out the purchase, and now we’re steeped in learning what we need to know. Here are a few snaps…
- Two of the founders of the farm, Rich & Karlene with us and Willow sitting in a “tree limo”
- Just after signing the papers, we took our photo in front of a tree but managed to block it out with our mugs!
- Karlene gives Willow a guided tour of her new estate.
- Mike, Karlene & Rich — the original Third Stone Christmas Tree Farm.
- Atlanta, perhaps posing as a tree?
- Open field ripe for planting more trees.
- Our “shed”
- Willow enjoys a local swimming hole
- Who’s a tree hugger?
- 98 degrees and sunny and Tim is learning to prune trees!
